Bangchak Sponsors Athletes from Banthongyord for the 9th Consecutive Year, Committing Carbon Offsets for “Carbon-Free Athletes”, Representing Thailand in an Environmentally Friendly Fashion

Chaiwat Kovavisarch, Group Chief Executive Officer and President, Bangchak Corporation Public Company Limited, along with Bangchak executives, welcomed “Coach Pae”, Phattaphon Ngernsrisuk, Director of Banthongyord Badminton School, and world-class badminton athletes, “Nong Mae” Ratchanok Intanon, world’s 6th ranked female badminton player, “Nong View” - Kunwut Witidsant, world’s 9th ranked male badminton player, and Nong Chiw - Patrasuda Chaiyawan, world’s 27th ranked\ female badminton player from the Banthongyord Badminton School, who came to wish Happy New Year and thank Bangchak for supporting the school for the 9th year before the team travels to compete in the year’s first event, the Petronas Malaysia Open 2023.

In 2023, Bangchak will also support Banthongyord athletes as they travel to compete in 15-20 programs around the world, and will also offset the carbon footprint during these travels, including those emitted from daily activities throughout 2023, with carbon credits procured from Carbon Markets Club, marking the start of the athletes’ personal carbon reduction, along with sustainability guidelines, which the public can participate in greenhouse gas reduction addressing global warming.

The previous year, Bangchak initiated the “Bangchak 100x Climate Action Project” with the “Carbon Free Management Team” as the first organization in Thailand. and encourages the group to achieve Bangchak’s goals of Carbon Neutrality in 2030 and Net Zero GHG Emission by 2050 through minimal energy travel campaigns such as using Winnonie e-motorbikes or cycling, adopting new modes of transportation that reduces fuel consumption, refused waste management delivered to N15 Technology for proper disposal, increasing green spaces through the communal vegetable garden at the head office and Bangchak Refinery environs, and energy conservation etc, to raise awareness and participation in the sustainable climate action.
