Bangchak Supports 2023 Olympic Day in 4 Provinces in 2023 Offsetting Carbon Emissions and Raising Awareness on Climate Action

On 1 February 2023, Pichai Chunhavajira, Vice Chairman, National Olympic Committee of Thailand Under the Royal Patronage of His Majesty the King, Chairman of the Sport and Environment Subcommittee, and Chairman of the 2023 Olympic Day Organizing Committee, hosted the press conference for 2023 Olympic Day which was joined by the Provincial Governor of Nan, Deputy Governor of Mukdaharn, Deputy Governor of Chiang Mai, Deputy Governor of Kanchanaburi, Gloyta Nathalang, Executive Vice President, Corporate Branding, Communication, and Sustainability Activation, Bangchak Corporation Public Company Limited and representatives of public and private organization co-sponsors at Bangchak Corporation Head Office, M Tower.

Gloyta stated that given Bangchak’s commitment to sustainable innovative business development in harmony with the environment and society, the company continually promotes and supports internal and external sporting activities. Bangchak has supported the Olympic Day Walk-Run since 2018, as another means of promoting physical health and exercise, and publicizing Olympics-related activities.

In 2023, in addition to jointly sponsoring the Olympic Day Walk-Run 2023 which will be held in the 4 provinces of Nan, Mukdaharn, Chiang Mai, and Kanchanaburi, through activities including knowledge disseminationห and entertainment activities, providing Inthanin beverages, retailing Furio lubricants at special promotional prices, and the introduction of Climate Action and Circular Economy awareness activities through various Bangchak campaigns such as “Fry and Fly” (Tod Mai Ting) – buying used cooking oil for the production of Sustainable Aviation Fuel, “Cups for Saplings” campaign – collecting Inthanin Bio Cups to be given to the Royal Forest Department, and collecting plastic bottles to be recycled into memorabilia for future events, as well as giving away saplings in Bio Cups for carbon absorption. Moreover, Bangchak will offset the carbon footprint of all participants with carbon credits from the Carbon Markets Club to ensure that the events are Carbon Neutral, in alignment with the principles of the UN Sports for Climate Action framework.
