Bangchak Joins Forces to Drive towards Low-Carbon Society with Circular Economy and Energy Transition at the ESG Symposium 2023: Accelerating Changes towards Low Carbon Society

Bangchak Corporation Public Company Limited participated in “ESG Symposium 2023: Accelerating Changes towards Low Carbon Society”, organized with the concept of uniting all sectors to address the global climate crisis and create a better future for all generations. The symposium which was a collective effort from the Foreign Chambers of Commerce in Thailand, the Thai Chamber of Commerce, the Federation of Thai Industries, and SCG was held at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center.

During the symposium, Bangchak presented its initiatives to drive towards a low-carbon society and conduct business in line with circular economy model through an exhibition of the “Fry to Fly” project by BSGF Company Limited, a joint venture between Bangchak Corporation Public Company Limited, BBGI Public Company Limited, and Thanachok Oil Light Company Limited. The project aims to procure used cooking oil for the production of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), which helps reduce carbon dioxide emissions from the aviation industry, in line with the acceleration towards a low-carbon society. The exhibition also featured Carbon Markets Club, Thailand first greenhouse gas reduction network, which was initiated and jointly established by Bangchak, currently with more than 600 individual and organization members. The club continues to raise awareness of global warming and promote carbon credit trading. Interested individuals and organizations were invited to join the Club.

Distinguished participants, including Chadchart Sittipunt, Governor of Bangkok, Jatuporn Buruspat, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, Kiatchai Maitriwong, Executive Director of Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (Public Organization), a delegation of experts and executives from the Stock Exchange of Thailand, and Dr. Wijarn Simachaya, President of Thailand Environment Institute (TEI) were welcomed and by Gloyta Nathalang, Executive Vice President, Corporate Branding, Communication and Sustainability Activation, Bangchak Corporation Public Company Limited.

Moreover, Gloyta also represented Bangchak in the CEO Forum, and brainstormed on the topic of “Energy Transition”, exchanging perspectives and seeking collaborative solutions for a global climate crisis, transitioning the country towards a low-carbon economy in order to help reduce the severity of environmental and economic impacts. The objective of the session was to prepare a proposal to be presented to the government as a national strategy going forward.
