Bangchak Group CEO Clinches the Prestigious Global Performance Excellence Award 2023 - World Class Bangchak Phra Khanong Refinery is the First and Only Refinery in the World to be Honored with this Award

Chaiwat Kovavisarach, Group Chief Executive Officer and President, Bangchak Corporation Public Company Limited, received the prestigious Global Performance Excellence Award 2023 - World Class from Mangalika de Silva, President, Asia Pacific Quality Organization (APQO) and Abraham Fenn, President Elect (2024-2025) APQO – NZOQ, New Zealand at the 28th Global Performance Excellence Award 2023 at the Radisson Hotel Kathmandu, Nepal.

Bangchak was the first Thai organization from the industrial sector to receive the prestigious Global Performance Excellence Award – World Class, the highest-level award since its inception in 2000. Bangchak Phra Khanong Refinery (under the Refinery and Oil Trading Business Group) became the first and only refinery to receive the highest-level award after it became the only refinery to be award the Thailand Quality Award in 2022.

Chaiwat expressed his appreciation to the Asia Pacific Quality Organization Award Governing Council for the prestigious GPEA Award. He highlighted that despite being the smallest refinery in Thailand, the Bangchak Phra Khanong Refinery has successfully navigated the challenges posed by the COVID-19 crisis and emerged at the forefront of the industry. The refinery has not only achieved excellence in its performance but also received global recognition through this award, underscoring its exceptional quality.

Chaiwat extended thanks to the leadership team, staff, and all stakeholders concerned, emphasizing that the award reflects the success and results of collaborative efforts. He said this recognition is an inspiration for Bangchak to continue its pursuit of excellence and unwavering commitment to quality.

The Global Performance Excellence Award honors organizations with performance or business excellence and are exemplars of quality management according to international standards. It aims to promote organizational development and management along accepted global practices. The evaluation criteria take into consideration qualities of global management excellence along the APQO criteria, namely an endorsement from the National Quality Award Office, and that has garnered support from APQO members.
