Bangchak Group Lays the Foundation Stone for Thailand’s First Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) Production Plant

Chaiwat Kovavisarach, Group Chief Executive Officer and President, Bangchak Corporation Public Company Limited presided over the Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony for the construction of a Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) production plant on an 8.9 rai plot within Bangchak Phra Khanong Refinery. The Most Venerable Somdet Phra Mahathirachan, the head of the Thai Overseas Buddhist Mission, and the Abbot of Wat Phra Chetuphon Vimonmangklaram presided over the gathering of monks and led the chanting of Buddhist prayers for the occasion.

Bangchak Group’s Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) production plant is the first of its kind in Thailand. Operated by BSGF Company Limited, it processes used cooking oil from households and businesses procured through the “Fry to Fly” campaign and other channels to produce sustainable aviation fuel and renewable naphtha. The plant comprises of two main units: the Pretreating Unit (PTU) and the Sustainable Aviation Fuel Unit (SAFU). It is expected to be completed and operational by the first quarter of 2025, with a daily production capacity of 1,000,000 liters.
