Bangchak Group Serves as a Key Partner of “KMITL EXPO 2026: From Lab to Life” Connecting Energy and Innovation from the Lab to Real-World Use

Bangchak Group is one of the key partners supporting “KMITL EXPO 2026 – Ladkrabang Exhibition 2026,” held to mark the 66th anniversary of King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL). Taking place at KMITL from September 1–6, 2026, under the theme “From Lab to Life,” the event brings research and innovation out of the laboratory and into real-world use through exhibitions, knowledge-sharing sessions, and a range of related activities.

Mr. Chaiwat Kovavisarach, Group Chief Executive Officer and President, Bangchak Corporation Public Company Limited, is a graduate of KMITL’s Faculty of Engineering and currently serves as an Honorary Member of the KMITL Council. He was selected as one of the “KMITL Next 100,” recognizing high-potential KMITL alumni, and was honored at the event. Mr. Chaiwat said, “At KMITL, learning does not stop in the classroom. Students roll up their sleeves, get their hands dirty, and gain true understanding through hands-on experience.”

The “From Bio Molecules to Future Mobility” exhibition traces the development of Bangchak Group’s bioenergy business in line with the From Lab to Life concept. It emphasizes that innovation must move beyond research to be tested, deployed, and scaled in practice, showing visitors how energy innovation can connect with everyday life while creating value for Thailand.

The journey began more than 20 years ago, when Bangchak Group drew on the royal initiatives of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, on self-reliance and renewable energy to develop its businesses. The Group has since built expertise in biological feedstocks, production technologies, and infrastructure, enabling it to produce low-carbon fuels for air, road, and marine transport, including sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), green diesel or HVO, and B24 Marine Biofuel.

For the Expo, Bangchak Group supplied 1,000 liters of HVO produced in Thailand for use in the event’s shuttle vehicles. This marked the first real-world use in Thailand of domestically produced HVO.

The exhibition also presents the development of feedstock supply chains for the bioenergy business. These include the Ucollect Box, an automated purchasing and collection unit for used cooking oil, which channels the collected oil into the “Fry to Fly” program for use as SAF feedstock. It also features “Farm to Fly,” which researches and develops Pongamia as an energy crop to broaden Thailand’s renewable feedstock options. The exhibition further highlights the role of the Carbon Markets Club as a knowledge-exchange platform that builds understanding of greenhouse gas emissions reduction and carbon markets.

Following the opening ceremony on September 1, Professor Yodchanan Wongsawat, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, visited the “From Bio Molecules to Future Mobility” exhibition. He was welcomed and guided through the exhibition by Mrs. Gloyta Nathalang, Senior Executive Vice President, Sustainability Management and Corporate Communications, Bangchak Corporation Plc., together with Bangchak Group executives and employees.

KMITL is assessing the event’s greenhouse gas emissions, while Bangchak Group is providing carbon credits to offset those emissions so that the event can be held as a Carbon Neutral Event. The Group is also providing Inthanin beverages in recyclable packaging to encourage the circular use of resources.

As part of the event’s knowledge-sharing activities, Mrs. Gloyta was invited to deliver a presentation titled “Bangchak Group x KMITL: Greenovation in Action – From Lab to Life.” Mr. Jirapat Yaovatsakul, Vice President, Frontier Technology & Bangchak Initiative and Innovation Center (BiiC), Bangchak Group, spoke on “Innovation in the Age of AI.”

Bangchak Group invites school and university students, families, and anyone interested to explore the exhibition and experience future energy innovations at “KMITL EXPO 2026 – Ladkrabang Exhibition 2026: From Lab to Life.” The event features more than 400 research and innovation projects across 10 pavilions, over 140 workshops, and open-house activities offered by 14 faculties, three colleges, and one campus.
