Bangchak Group Co-Hosts Seminar on Norwegian CCS Experience and Opportunities for Asia

Recently, Bangchak Group, in collaboration with Norwegian Energy Partners (NORWEP), the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Bangkok, Innovation Norway, and the Thai-Norwegian Chamber of Commerce, hosted the seminar "Building the CCS Value Chain: Norwegian Experience and Opportunities for Asia" at the headquarters of Bangchak Corporation Public Company Limited, with support from Equinor and Aker Solutions.

Mr. Bundit Hansapaiboon, President, Refinery and Marketing Business Group, Bangchak Corporation Public Company Limited, and Mr. Tommy Flakk, Chargé d'Affaires, Royal Norwegian Embassy in Bangkok, welcomed approximately 100 representatives from government agencies, businesses, and the energy industry. The seminar provided a forum for sharing knowledge and experience on carbon capture and storage (CCS), including value chain development, carbon dioxide transportation and storage, and the opportunities and challenges involved in developing CCS markets in Asia. Experts from leading organizations in Thailand, Norway, and across Asia contributed their insights and experience.

Bangchak Group became a major shareholder in OKEA ASA, a Norwegian oil and gas exploration and production company and the Group's flagship upstream business, in 2018. This investment has given Bangchak direct experience on the Norwegian Continental Shelf and valuable insights into Norway's high standards in safety, environmental management, governance, and responsible resource development. Bangchak also maintains close ties with the Thai-Norwegian Chamber of Commerce through its membership and representation on the Board of Governors. The seminar was another opportunity to strengthen cooperation between Thailand and Norway, particularly in CCS and low-carbon energy.
