Bangchak Executives Share Expertise to Navigate the Energy Transition in Thailand and Beyond Sustainability Exchanges with MTEC and Scania Group’s Executive Board, alongside Crisis Communication Insights for PTTLNG

Recently, Ms. Gloyta Nathalang, Senior Executive Vice President, Sustainability Management and Corporate Communications, Bangchak Corporation Public Company Limited, together with fellow Bangchak executives, shared sustainability experience with executives and researchers from the National Metal and Materials Technology Center (MTEC) and Scania’s Executive Board of Management from its headquarters in Sweden. The exchanges brought together perspectives from research, energy and automotive businesses to explore how innovation and renewable fuels can be put into practice. She also shared crisis communication experience with executives and personnel of PTT LNG Company Limited.

Earlier in the week, Gloyta delivered a presentation entitled “Bangchak’s Transition towards Net Zero 2050: Greenovate to Regenerate: Sustainability and Beyond” to MTEC’s delegation. Participants included Associate Professor Toemsak Srikhirin, Executive Director, and Ms. Asira Fuongfuchat, Deputy Executive Director for Research and Development in Materials Science and Engineering, alongside executives, researchers and support personnel. The presentation focused on integrating climate strategy into business strategy, drawing on Bangchak’s experience in greenhouse gas emissions reduction, sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) development, carbon markets, and nature restoration in partnership with communities. Discussions also explored the challenges of translating research into industrial applications, including efficiency, costs, production scale-up, standards and market readiness.

She subsequently welcomed and delivered a presentation to Scania’s Executive Board of Management from its headquarters in Sweden, led by Mr. Christian Levin, President and CEO of TRATON Group and Scania Group, together with senior executives from headquarters, the Asia Oceania region and Thailand. The delegation visited Bangchak’s Phra Khanong Refinery and discussed strategic direction and sustainability partnerships in Thailand. The exchange with Scania focused on renewable fuels for road transportation, particularly hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO). Proposed discussion areas included fleet trials and the development of a fuel supply ecosystem, covering vehicle performance, emissions, operating costs, fuel quality and traceability, and access to refuelling facilities. These discussions explored potential collaboration that could meet transport operators’ needs. A shared theme across the MTEC and Scania exchanges was that progress towards sustainability requires technology, user needs and readiness across the value chain to advance together.

She was also invited to speak on “Crisis Communication in the Digital World” to PTT LNG executives and personnel. Participants were led by Mr. Raviwat Thaleongchok, Executive Vice President, Corporate Strategy and Finance, and Ms. Pajaree Lopsathayoodh, Executive Vice President, Corporate Administration, alongside employees attending from the Bangkok office and joining online from the Rayong office. The presentation emphasized integrating incident response, care for affected people and communication from the outset, in a digital environment where information spreads rapidly. It highlighted that trust must be built through actions consistent with words. Organizations must therefore communicate facts openly and honestly, distinguish confirmed information from matters still under investigation, and provide continuous updates alongside corrective action and recovery efforts.
