Bangchak Joins the “60+ Earth Hour 2023” With Phra Khanong District Office and Environmental Network Partners

Suwat Meemook, Executive Vice President, Digital Organization, Bangchak Corporation Public Company Limited, with Warunlak Phonharn, Director, Phra Khanong District Office and representatives of M Tower joined the campaign to promote “60+ Earth Hour 2023” organized by Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), by switching off non-essential lights to reduce energy consumption at Bangchak Head Office at M Tower, and along Sukhumvit Road in Phra Khanong District for 1 hour on Saturday, 25 March 2023, from 20.30 – 21.30 along with more than 7,000 cities in 190 countries worldwide.

Moreover, Bangchak extended the cooperation to over 1,300 Bangchak service stations nationwide, switching off highway signs, and lights at various Bangchak Group offices, as well as encouraging employees and the public to during the aforementioned time. The campaign aims to raise awareness to reduce energy consumption by consuming only as much as necessary, to conserve energy by reducing electricity consumption, and to reduce environmental impact. Bangchak Group continually executes energy conservation measures, supports the use of electric motorcycles “Winnonie” and electric vehicles (EV), and reduces the electricity and energy consumption in the group’s offices and Bangchak Refinery processes. The company also plants trees and established a rooftop vegetable garden at its Head Office, and promotes proper waste sorting and separation to facilitate recycling and appropriate treatment and disposal.

Information from the BMA indicates that during “60+ Earth Hour” in 2022, consumption of electricity in Bangkok was reduced by 78 megawatts and carbon dioxide emissions reduced by 20 tons, valued at 176,172 baht. From 2008 – 2022, the activity cumulatively reduced electricity consumption by 22,476 megawatts and carbon dioxide emissions by 12,255 tonnes, valued at 81 million baht.
