Bangchak Collaborates with 3 Partners in Setting Up Vaccination Unit in front of Bangchak Refinery: Daily Capacity to Inoculate 1,000 People, Services to Start from Late May

Bangchak has collaborated with the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration or BMA (Phra Khanong District Office), the Defense Ministry’s Office of the Permanent Secretary and the Bangpakok – Piyavate Hospital Group in setting up a vaccination unit in front of the Bangchak Refinery. With the capacity to serve 1,000 people a day, this vaccination unit is expected to start its services in late May.

Mr. Chaiwat Kovavisarach, president and chief executive officer of Bangchak Corporation Public Company Limited, says, “COVID-19 situation is still serious, especially in Bangkok where cluster infections have continued in various communities. Relevant parties have now made it an urgent mission to deliver fast and comprehensive COVID-19 vaccine distribution. Phra Khanong district, where Bangchak refinery is located, is a vulnerable area with densely-populated communities. Bangchak thus joins hands with three partners namely the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration or BMA (Phra Khanong District Office), the Defense Ministry’s Office of the Permanent Secretary and the Bangpakok – Piyavate Hospital Group in setting up a vaccination unit at the multipurpose building of the Defense Ministry’s Office of the Permanent Secretary as public services. This building sits in front of the Bangchak refinery on Soi Sukhumvit 64. People, especially those living or working in Phra Khanong district, will be able to get their shots at the unit. With the capacity to serve 1,000 people a day, this vaccination unit aims at conducting fast and comprehensive COVID-19 vaccination in line with the BMA goals to vaccinate at least 70 per cent of Bangkok’s residents for herd community and to ease commuting-induced COVID-19 spread”.

The Defense Ministry’s Office of the Permanent Secretary has supported Bangchak by offering space for the vaccination unit. The well-ventilated space serves like an open-air multipurpose yard and is located in front of the Bangchak refinery. Medical workers from the Bangpakok – Piyavate Hospital Group will be in charge of vaccination management. Bangchak has also received good cooperation from the BMA via its Health Department and the Phra Khanong District Office in setting up this vaccination unit outside hospitals. In support of this vaccination unit, Bangchak has taken care of landscape around it. The firm has also mobilized staff, volunteers, and supplies in support of medical workers manning this vaccination station. All procedures will be done in line with relevant authorities’ disease-control rules.

The vaccination unit in front of the Bangchak refinery is located on Soi Sukhumvit 64 in Phra Khanong district (nearest BTS station is the Punnawithi Station). With its services to start from late May, this vaccination unit will open every day.

“Bangchak has always taken care of society, the environment, and stakeholders from all sectors. In our operations, neighboring communities receive priority. We are thus willing to share space and provide convenience in support of the government’s vaccination rollout for the public. We pledge full support to efforts that will fast bring the country out of the ongoing crisis. The ongoing wave of COVID-19 may be serious. But if all members of the country join hands, we will certainly pull through together,” Mr. Chaiwat concludes.
