Bangchak and Oam Suk Social Enterprise Empower BAAC Leaders to Navigate Global Transitions

Mrs. Gloyta Nathalang, Senior Executive Vice President, Sustainability Management and Corporate Communications, Bangchak Corporation Public Company Limited, delivered a special lecture on “Growing Sustainability Together” in the Smart Director 2 program organized by the Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC) at TK Palace Hotel, Chaeng Watthana. The program aims to strengthen BAAC executives’ capability to drive sustainable business growth at a time when Thailand’s agricultural sector is facing mounting challenges, from climate risks and rising global carbon standards to the growing need to manage greenhouse gas emissions from agriculture, which remains one of the country’s largest emission sources.
Mrs. Gloyta highlighted that the agricultural sector is undergoing a rapid transition shaped by climate pressures, data-driven practices, technological advances, and increasingly stringent market requirements. Thai farmers now face more severe climate risks, including volatile seasons, droughts, floods, pests, and more demanding carbon regulations from trading partners. She emphasized that BAAC’s new-generation leaders must embrace the role of “Transition Leaders,” leveraging data and technology to assess risks, support farmer adaptation, reduce emissions in production systems, enhance efficiency, and elevate standards to meet the demands of low-carbon and traceable markets. This leadership vision extends beyond business performance, balancing environmental responsibility, community well-being, and competitiveness, guided by the principle of regeneration and grounded in ESG as a strategic framework for risk management and investment across the organization.
In addition, Ms. Sasamon Suputthamongkol, Senior Manager, Corporate Sustainability Activation, and Manager of Oam Suk Social Enterprise, shared practical insights from working with agricultural cooperatives nationwide. She cited examples including solar system installations for the Cooperative Network to Combat Global Warming, introducing innovations to upgrade community products, and developing new market channels. She noted that successful transitions depend on accurate data, appropriate technology, and viable markets. While many cooperatives demonstrate strong potential, they still require knowledge, tools, and financial solutions aligned with their needs. Visible and continuous success stories help build confidence, reinforcing BAAC’s critical role in risk reduction, data support, and expanding market opportunities for cooperatives and farmers across the country.
Recently, Bangchak and Oam Suk Social Enterprise also welcomed participants from BAAC’s SMART Banker program, organized by the Thailand Management Association (TMA), to the Bangchak Phra Khanong Refinery at Sukhumvit 64. Led by Mrs. Khanittha Tantrakul, Assistant Director of BAAC’s Human Resource Development Office, the visit focused on “Bangchak’s Role in Supporting Farmers and Communities,” showcasing the company’s demonstrated leadership and tangible achievements in advancing agricultural and community development.
