LNG - Clean, Convenient, Cost-Efficient

Another Step as a Pioneer, Leading in Energy Transition, the Bangchak Way

When continuous development is a key to doing business, we continuously witness Bangchak’s pioneering spirit as an energy transition leader. Following the launch of the Winnonie E-bike platform in 2020 and piloting the production of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) in 2022, today, Bangchak Group has embarked on a new business venture to spearhead a clean and convenient fuel business for transportation, opening Thailand’s first “Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Refueling Station” with License Number 1 issued by the Department of Energy Business. This station is located at the Bangchak Map Iang service station, strategically located near Laem Chabang Port in Chonburi Province; a critical route for trucks in the transport sector.

LNG “Clean, Convenient, and Cost-Efficient” for the Transport Sector

While the world is in need of transitioning to clean energy, electric power may not be the optimal solution for the transport industry, especially when it comes to freight trucks as the primary mode of transportation. This limitation is due to factors such as physical weight of batteries, charging time, and traveling distance. In contrast, LNG, or Liquefied Natural Gas, is widely recognized as a clean and environmentally friendly fuel. It is also highly safe to store and use, and it requires minimal storage space. These characteristics makes LNG an ideal choice for transportation businesses aiming to reduce pollution emissions, lower fuel costs, and optimize the utilization of their truck fleet.

Delivering Services with Professionalism

The LNG refueling station, located at Bangchak Map Iang service station, KM. 15 Sriracha, Chonburi Province, is operated by BTSG Company Limited, a joint venture between Bangchak Corporation Public Company Limited and Thai Special Gas Company Limited (TSG). The company aims to develop and provide a range of LNG-related services by capitalizing the strength of Bangchak’s extensive network of over 2,200 service stations nationwide and leveraging TSG’s three-decade-long expertise in industrial and specialty gases. BTSG is ready to provide comprehensive LNG services, which encompass consultations on suitable fuel options tailored to specific business needs. This includes evaluating project investments, including budgeting and return assessing return on investments. Moreover, BTSG aims to procure and supply LNG to meet the demands of customers in both the transportation and industrial sectors.

Ready to Advance Towards the Goal of Being a Comprehensive LNG Service Leader

From the starting point in Map Iang, Bangchak Group has laid the path towards success, with the aim of becoming a leader in integrated LNG services. The plan involves expanding the number of LNG refueling stations to major cities across all four regions of Thailand. This expansion will entail collaboration with business partners in the transportation sector to jointly establish these refueling stations to ensure extensive coverage, as well as tangibly promote the widespread usage and adopting of clean fuels. The expansion will meet the growing demand for LNG in the transportation sector, making clean energy accessible in every region of the country.

A truck with a full tank of LNG can travel 1,400 KM.,
surpassing diesel engines that cover 1,200 KM,
CNG trucks 500 KM, and electric trucks 300 KM. per single charge.
