OPEN. CONNECT. BALANCE.

Bangchak Group as an APEC 2022 THAILAND Communication Partner

“The forthcoming APEC forum is not just any international meeting as some may think. Rather, it will focus significantly on charting a post-COVID-19 future for the Asia-Pacific region. So, we would like to invite all Thais to join in hosting and following the event.”

Natapanu Nopakun, Deputy Director-General of Information Department and Deputy Spokesperson, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that Thailand’s hosting of APEC this year is an important opportunity to drive national recovery post-COVID forward into the future. Inputs and suggestions from all sectors are welcome, whether it be the entrepreneurial skill advancement, knowledge base, technological skills, and innovation support that might be needed from various APEC Economies. These efforts will enhance economic progress through the concept of Bio, Circular, and Green Economy (BCG), which is centered on the livelihood of Thai people.

APEC is an important forum for mutual exchange of knowledge and common benefit for the 21 member economies who have been affected by COVID, from economic recession to inflation, and to which APEC will help to accelerate recovery.

“Thailand strives to create value from the Forum in many dimensions, with APEC as an incubator of ideas, and an initiator of tangible collaborative projects, all towards economic recovery, including benefits in other dimensions.”

Leading up to the APEC Summit this November, there will be dialogue in many fora such as in the framework of forestry, finance, health, etc. with far-reaching effects in numerous dimensions, and will soon yield tangible progress, including critical negotiations detailing Safe Passage or the recovery of safe and seamless cross-border travel at both regional and global levels, which will lead to post-COVID travel flexibility. This is complemented by private sector participation and various taskforce meetings, centered on boosting Thailand’s pride as APEC 2022 host, and governmental support of regional sustainable growth.

Gloyta Nathalang, Executive Vice President, Corporate Branding, Communication and Sustainability Activation, Bangchak Corporation Plc., joined the International Academic Forum and 5th APEC Media Focus Group as a panelist on “APEC and Business Sustainability” recently.

The Deputy Director-General of Information Department and Deputy Spokesperson, Ministry of Foreign Affairs added that, as some may consider the framework of international negotiations to be a intangible, the Department therefore strives to raise more awareness using various communication channels including social media, to enhance academic awareness through media focus groups, and regularly engaging with the press, with support from the Public Relations Department and Communication Partners from various industries such as energy, food, retail, industrial estates, e-commerce, etc. These partners help raise awareness of APEC 2022 among all stakeholders through multiple channels.

Bangchak Group is among the first APEC 2022 Communication Partners. With a clear approach on green innovation and integration of the BCG Economy Model, which is a central theme of the Forum, Bangchak is our strong and integral communication partner.

Open. Connect. Balance.

The main theme of APEC 2022 will focus on charting a post-COVID-19 future for the Asia-Pacific region and has been coined as “Open. Connect. Balance.”, as it will be open to all opportunities, connect all dimensions and in balance in all aspects.

OPEN

Facilitate trade and investment and the realization of the Free Trade Area of the Asia Pacific (FTAAP), a policy for APEC member economies to champion regional economic integration and address future challenges together.

CONNECT

Promote safe and seamless resumption of cross-border travel, reinvigorating tourism and the services sectors and enhancing security.

BALANCE

Promote inclusive and sustainable growth by exploring BCG economic models and practices relating to the green economy and sustainable growth - a priority on the Thai national agenda.

The APEC 2022 Thailand logo was designed by Chawanon Wongtrakuljong, a student from the Faculty of Architecture, Chulalongkorn University, inspired by the chalom, a traditional Thai bamboo woven basket, used to carry travel items and goods for presentation to respected persons in Thai society for generations.

The characteristics of chalom also reflect the theme of Thailand’s host year, namely OPEN - signifying open trade, CONNECT - as an object used to transports goods during travel and interwoven bamboo strips signifying the interconnectedness of the 21 member economies, and BALANCE - its natural material aligned with the Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) Economic Model.
